conversations with a 2-year-old

9:22pm. 1 hour, 22 minutes past bedtime.

“Mommy, I see Jesus.”
Internal freak-out.
I see Jesus, mommy.”

“You…. see Jesus? Where is he?”

“Over there.”
Peering in the dark.

Mommy, I see cheese. I see cheese, Mommy.”
Oh.
I see cheese and carry me.”

You want me to carry you?”
No. Carry me.”
“Um. What?”

“Caramel.”
“Caramel?”
“No, caramel.”

“I see cheese and caramel.”
“… What?”
“CARE-UH-MEH-YUH.”

“Ok. I see it too honey. Goodnight.”
“G’nite mommy.”
